A Walk with God
The morning, feeling trapped and burdened in the news
Three cups of coffee and a
boring cereal I choose
The early morning tasks are
hard I find
The private trails beckon
leaving civilization behind.
The gate cannot fast enough
open wide
As into the woods and trails
I slide,
Leaving clothes, keys, and
cares in a pile,
Needing to wander, walk, and
talk to God a while.
Carrying lust and shame and
sin and need
In his natural world on His
love to feed,
With prayer and steps and a
little time
The world seems brighter and
the sun does shine.
The cleansing walk in the
woods has the desired effect
An hour or so of wind, sun
and warmth on my body and neck
I am now loving and feeling
in God’s sanctuary
So all life’s burdens my soul
can carry!
